Following some great submissions to our poster competition, we thought out members would like an update on the projects.
For November we would like to highlight George Turner and his poster: Transforming Foundation Supervisors into Dynamic Mentors for Education Excellence
Following my poster presentation on "Transforming Foundation Supervisors into Dynamic Mentors for Educational Excellence," we are excited to further develop the conference, incorporating the insightful discussions and feedback received. Our goal is to equip supervisors with enhanced training that maximizes their knowledge and skills, enabling them to effectively support and empower trainees.
The initial conference was well-received, fostering a vibrant environment for networking and idea exchange. We observed a notable increase in the number of supervisors, along with a significant improvement in the quality of educational portfolios submitted by both trainees and supervisors during our recent ARCP.
Our next conference is scheduled for February and will welcome participation from other local hospitals in the region. In response to feedback indicating a desire for specific training on HORUS, we have created a concise HORUS course. This will consist of three engaging 20-minute lectures covering the foundation curriculum, HORUS functionality, and form-filling, delivered every other month. We have also recruited three new Foundation Programme Directors who will collaborate with our current Foundation Education Fellow to enhance the delivery of these courses. Additionally, our outgoing F1 TPD will assume the role of Associate Director of Medical Education, focussing on improving support and supervisor compliance.
Overall, the conference has been a resounding success, and many supervisors are eagerly asking about the next course. Our primary aim is to expand this initiative to other hospitals, ensuring that all trainees benefit from these valuable resources. I would be happy to share our materials to other hospital if needed.
